A Celebration of Another German Tradition – Wine!
Fountain Hills Sister Cities organized a unique event sampling wines from regions around Germany and sister city Dierdorf. It was hosted by local German Restaurant Treffpunkt in Scottsdale.
"Friendship is a Fountain of Hope"
August 2026: The Fountain Hills Sister Cities organization took a much-needed break from the hot summer months. The team reconvened in late August to kick off planning for the 2026 Oktoberfest Celebration.
September 2026: Members of the Fountain Hills Sister Cities Board of Directors attended the Sister Cities State Conference hosted this year by Chandler Sister Cities. We also set up a booth and participated over a couple of weeks in the Fountain Hills Farmers Market.
August 2026: We submitted our art donation proposal to the Town of Fountain Hills and to the International Dark Sky Discovery Center in hopes that one of them would like to permanently display our 25th Anniversary Way-Finder Monument.
September 2026: Numerous announcements on social media and news outlets were organized to help spread the word about Oktoberfest in Fountain Hills. FH Sister Cities was proud to be named again as this year’s host. We also hosted a wine tasting event showcasing the wines of Germany as a complement to their world-famous beers.
July 2026: FH Sister Cities Student Ambassador Reece Beers attended the national Youth Leadership Summit in Washington DC hosted by Sister Cities International. He made new friends, came away with great experiences, and learned leadership and diplomatic skills that will carry with him the rest of his life.
July 2026: FHSC President Christine Colley travelled to Sister City Dierdorf Germany to meet with newly elected town officials. Maintaining and strengthening these city-to-city bonds is an important element of the Sister Cities commitment to citizen diplomacy. In this way, (and so much more) we carry on the tradition of the Sister Cities movement begun by President Eisenhower in 1956.
August 2026: Marielena Hernandez, Ataco’s first female County Supervisor, paid a visit to Fountain Hills. She was an integral part of our 2024-2025 “Meals for Elders” fund raising campaign to help then flood-ravaged Sister City Ataco.
