Fountain Hills Sister Cities Reinforces Its Commitment .....
While visiting family in Germany, Christine Colley, President of FH Sister Cities had the opportunity to visit Dierdorf, a Sister City to Fountain Hills. She had the pleasure to reconnect with Rosemarie Schneider who was the Dierdorf Mayor in June 2005. At that time, the Dierdorf/Fountain Hills Sister Cities partnership agreement was signed, with a Fountain Hills delegation present under the leadership of Mayor Wally Nichols and then FH Sister Cities President, Sharon Morgan.Â
Christine also met Marita Klose, a minister, and extended her an invitation to host the Weihnachtsgottesdienst, (German Christmas Service) in December in Ahwatukee, Az. where Christine serves as co-chair.
Christine also reconnected with now Mayor Ulrich Schreiber who performs this role on a volunteer basis in addition to managing his farm there. She and Mayor Schreiber met during 2005 when the Sister Cities agreement was signed.
These Are Special Times in Dierdorf......
Just recently Dierdorf celebrated their 700-year anniversary. In honor of that momentous achievement, we thought we would share some words from the Honorable Mayor Ulrich Schrieber.
As Mayor of Dierdorf, I would like to welcome you to our beautiful city in the Rhineland Westerwald.
Dierdorf is also often referred to as the western gateway to the Westerwald. Due to its convenient location in the Middle Ages, Dierdorf received market and town rights in 1357. Today, Dierdorf is a vibrant medium-sized center, but historical change and structural developments have remained visible in many places.
Dierdorf combines rural living with well-developed infrastructure. As a school location, Dierdorf is known far beyond the city limits. The convenient location, directly on the A3, speaks for itself. In combination with a comprehensive range of commercial and retail activities, as well as the best medical care, our city offers a high quality of life.
