Fountain Hills Sister Cities Commissions A Valley Artist to Create an Artistic Expression of Our Mission to Unite International Communities......
Commissioning art is the process where a client hires an artist to create a unique piece of artwork based on specific requirements. This can include paintings, sculptures, digital art, or other forms of artistic expression. The final piece is tailored to the client’s requests, making it a personalized and unique addition to their collection.
In our case, the artwork will also serve to commemorate 25 years of non-profit community service and showcase our cherished Sister Cities in a special way. It will be a monument to last for the next 25 years!
We put together a mockup of all the elements we wished to be part of the monument, elements from our surroundings like the mountains and our incredible fountain. We then coupled these elements with a Way-Finder street sign concept that allowed us to point the way to our Sister Cities, improving community awareness of our deep bonds with them. Equipped with this 1/10th scale paper-mache mockup we set out to find an artist willing to take on the project.
Shown here is FH Sister Cities Technical Director James Wilson with the original mockup that we used to discuss the possibilities of our commemorative monument.
Fountain Hills Sister Cities Partners With Cave Creek Artist......
After numerous contacts and discussions with area artists, Mark Carroll of The Sculpture Studio in Cave Creek was selected. Mark is an accomplished artist whose works are showcased all over Arizona. Mark’s works include creative integrations of wood, metal and stone, and we felt he was simply the perfect match for our sculpture. He graciously agreed to accept our commission.
Early Renderings Bring Commemorative Monument To Life......
Where Will This Artistic Commemorative Monument Be Placed?....
That’s a really good question! We are looking for a location even now. Ideally, we would like it to go where the most passers-by will spot the monument and stop to read about us. Maybe even become curious about us and want to find out more.
Two locations are being pursued. 1) Somewhere along the Fountain Park walk where visitors from around the world will realize just how connected Fountain Hills is internationally. 2) The grounds at the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce, where current and future business owners and community leaders gather to talk about marketing and trade.
Once the monument is completed sometime in this summer, we will know more where its new home will be so stay tuned! Feel like being part of the process? Read on to find out how.
