German Karneval Event in Las Vegas

Dear Fountain Hills Sister Cities friends, we proudly announce a fun event that celebrates our connections and heritage in Dierdorf Germany and beyond!
German – American Karneval Season Is Here!

We invite all Karneval/Mardi Gras lovers from around the world to the spacious and beautiful Tuscany Suites & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada for the 39th Annual German American Mardi Gras Association Gala
The History of the German version of Karneval:
Karneval goes by many names depending on what area of Europe you are from: Fasching, Karneval, Fastnacht, Carnival, and Mardi Gras. They are pre-Lenten festivities celebrated in grand style, mostly in the predominantly Catholic regions of the German-speaking countries.
The Rhineland has its Karneval; Austria, Bavaria, and Berlin call theirs Fasching, and the German Swiss celebrate Fastnacht. Carnival and Mardi Gras are celebrated in countries like Brazil and in the United States in New Orleans.
Karneval in Germany began in the 16th century to allow commoners to mock the monarchy and politicians without fear of retribution, but it really took off in the 19th and 20th centuries. Therefore, many “official” Karneval costumes copy some of those old official uniforms and dresses.
The Event planned for Here in the USA:
The GAMGA Gala is the only event of the German-American Mardi Gras Association – the assembly of German American Karneval Groups in North America. We celebrate it in the tradition of Karneval/ Fasching/Fastnacht/Mardi Gras, keeping traditions alive and passing them on to future generations. It gives especially young performers an outstanding opportunity to perform in front of the biggest audience – in Las Vegas.
